RALEIGH – Gerrymandering deprives North Carolina citizens of a choice and a voice in our elections. But momentum is growing to finally enact a nonpartisan redistricting process to give our state fair voting maps and fair elections.

Here are five things you can do to help end gerrymandering now:

1) Contact your state lawmakers and ask them to support House Bill 200 (nonpartisan redistricting). Also contact House Speaker Tim Moore and urge him to let HB200 be given a vote. Then ask your friends to do the same. (You can find your state lawmakers here.)

2) Sign the petition to end gerrymandering in North Carolina.

3) Organize a district meeting in your hometown with your lawmakers to discuss nonpartisan redistricting. Invite your friends and neighbors to attend.

4) Spread the word about HB200 on social media, or write a letter to the editor of your local newspaper calling for an end to gerrymandering in North Carolina. (Here's an example.)

5) Ask your local elected officials to join the list of civic leaders supporting nonpartisan redistricting at

Finally, please consider making a tax-deductible contribution to support our effort to end gerrymandering in North Carolina.
