CHARLOTTE – Democracy Fellows from Common Cause North Carolina were at Johnson C. Smith University this week, encouraging students to go to the polls for this fall's election.

Students signed pledge cards as part of the Black Votes Matter campaign organized by Common Cause NC, committing to exercising their right to vote.

"It's great to see these students get engaged in this year's election and feel that they can have a voice and an impact in our democracy," said Reggie Weaver, college outreach coordinator with Common Cause NC.

This week, JCSU students also took part in a "Bulls to the Polls" block party, which included rides to the polls provided by the state NAACP.
